Renal handling of nitrate in women and men with elevated blood pressure

چکیده

Aim The inorganic anions nitrate and nitrite are oxidation products of nitric oxide (NO) that have often been used as an index NO generation. More than just being surrogate markers NO, nitrate/nitrite can recycle to bioactive again. Nitrate is predominantly eliminated via the kidneys; however, there less knowledge regarding tubular handling. aim this study, part a large randomized controlled trial, was explore potential sex differences in renal handling during low high dietary intake. We hypothesized clearance excretion higher men compared women. Methods In prehypertensive hypertensive individuals (n = 231), were measured plasma urine at intake (baseline) after 5 weeks supplementation with (300 mg potassium nitrate/day) or placebo chloride/day). Twenty-four hours ambulatory blood pressure recordings collections conducted. Results At baseline, nitrite, well downstream marker signalling cyclic guanosine monophosphate, similar women men. Approximately 80% filtered spared by kidneys. Urinary concentration, amount excreted, (Cnitrate) fractional (FEnitrate) lower No association observed between concentrations glomerular filtration rate (GFR), nor FEnitrate GFR either sex. After increased significantly, but remained unchanged. significantly difference baseline disappeared. Conclusion Our findings demonstrate substantial sparing capacity kidneys, which This suggests reabsorption underlying mechanism(s) warrants further investigation.

Renal sodium handling and nighttime blood pressure.

Blood pressure follows a circadian rhythm with a physiologic 10% to 20% decrease during the night. There is now increasing evidence that a blunted decrease or an increase in nighttime blood pressure is associated with a greater prevalence of target organ damage and a faster disease progression in patients with chronic kidney diseases. Several factors contribute to the changes in nighttime blood...

Comparison of Plantar Force, Pressure and Impulse During Walking in Men and Women With Flat Feet

Objective: This study aims to compare the variables of plantar force, pressure and impulse during walking in men and women with flat feet. Methods: The study population consists of non-athlete students with and without flat feet. Of these, 48 (male and female) were selected as study samples. The peak pressure, force and impulse on the foot were measured during walking by a foot scanner at a sa...

Blood pressure predicts risk of developing end-stage renal disease in men and women.

Blood pressure as a risk factor for development of end-stage renal disease has not been fully studied, particularly in women. We studied the development of end-stage renal disease from 1983 through 2000 in 98 759 subjects, 46 881 men and 51 878 women, 20 to 98 years of age, who were screened in 1983 in Okinawa, Japan. Data for all dialysis patients registered from 1983 to 2000 in Okinawa were u...
